October 19, 2010: A Day of Giving in Detroit. In America. And around the World – #DayOfGiving

Since I first started working on producing #140conf: Detroit on October 20th, I have had plans to do something special in Detroit on October 19th. I’m happy to announce plans to make October 19th a Day of Giving in Detroit.

While Charities, Not-For-Profits and NGOs exist from donor support, I believe there are times when sharing knowledge is more valuable than just writing a check. On October 19th our hope is to help teach Not-for-Profits, Charities and NGOs in Detroit how to better leverage the social web to help get their message heard.

I am looking for people from around Detroit as well as people from outside of Detroit who can come to the city and share their knowledge.

If you are interested in being a part of the October 19th “Day of Giving” please visit: http://140conf.com/day-of-giving and sign up to help out. And if you are a Not-for-Profit, Charity and/or NGO from in and around Detroit and would like our assistance, please email: jeff @ 140conf.com and you will be added to our list. And you may want to visit: http://JustCoz.org to help get your message heard by having your donors donate a tweet to your cause.

Friends who can’t make it to Detroit but would like to help out are encouraged to do so in their villages, towns and cities. Please visit: http://140conf.com/day-of-giving and list yourself and your town. Causes from outside of Detroit wishing to participate in the October 19th Day of Giving are encouraged to also email: jeff @ 140conf.com to get connected to the community for help.

I would like to believe that by working together we can make a difference each day and by focusing on October 19th, we can have a positive effect on the lives of others by simply sharing knowledge.

I would appreciate your help in spreading the word about this project.
