Mobile Search for Real Estate | Zillow App
In the second of three mobile phone application reviews, I am covering Zillow.com’s real estate search application. Unlike the Trulia app that is only available to iPhone users (or their mobile website, viewable through any mobile browser) Zillow’s real estate search application is available for iPhone, Android and Windows mobile smart phones. Own an iPad? Yep, Zillow has an app for you too!
Zillow Real Estate Search
If you have used Zillow.com for a real estate search recently, you’ll know that their website presents with a very clean, almost Google-like homepage. Their mobile application is no different.
Upon launching the Zillow.com app, you are presented with a Google map that is pinned with homes currently offered for sale. Clean and uncluttered, you can immediately see what homes are for sale in your immediate vicinity. As you move the map, properties that match the criteria in your filter appear.
Interested in a two-story home? Curious to learn what the neighbors home sold for recently? Simply touch the “Filter” button in the upper right and change the criteria for what properties are displayed. Easy to use sliders and dials are the controls to filter your property search.
Once you’ve found a property to view, simply touching the house icon brings up the details of the property. Assuming there are photos of the listing, you can easily flick through the photos. Also on the property detail screen is Zillow’s Zestimate of the property. Contacting the listing agent is as easy as sending an email from this screen or dialing the listed number.
iPhone Tip: Turn your phone sideways at the property detail screen and you will be able to view larger photos and still flick through all available photos.
In summary, Zillow’s smartphone application is a pretty straightforward, fresh recreation of their website. Of course, a strong signal (WiFi or cell) and clear line of sight (for your phone’s GPS) help to speed along your mobile experience.
Happy House Hunting!
